Jr. Coaches Requirements
Jr. Coaches are prior GYCL Athletes in grades 9-12. Trainees must sign & adhere to current 2024 Coaches Code of Conduct & 2024 Rules & Regulations. Coach Trainees can assist in cheers, stunting & choreography in the presence and supervision of the Head Coach at all times. It is MANDATORY that all coach trainees must attend at least one practice each week or they will not be invited back the following year to coach. All coach trainees must submit weekly hours to the GYCL President to be approved by team directors.
Highschool Jr. Coaches, also known as “coach trainees”, much be a minimum of freshman in high school. To be a coach trainee for a senior squad, you must be a sophomore or above. It is MANDATORY that all coach trainees must attend at least one practice each week or they will not be invited back the following year to coach. All coach trainees must submit weekly hours to the GYCL President to be approved by team directors.
Any coach that quits a team during the season without valid reason is subject to being prohibited to coach the following season.
All coaches (Jr Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Head coaches) must wear proper coaching attire. Appropriate coaching attire is defined by the GYCL Board, but is not limited to: Shirts that cover the midriff, shorts that fully cover your rear, proper athletic footwear, proper undergarments deemed suitable for athletics, no jewelry, etc.

Thank you for volunteering to coach with the GYCL! Roughly 300 athletes participate every year, and we can't do this without help from volunteer coaches like yourself! Once your team assignment is finalized, you should receive an email from your Director or Head Coach.
